Picking up What Was Left Behind
September 08, 2007
GRAAAHHH! Final year examination is just around the corner, 3 more weeks to be exact. Things aren't looking too bright for both teachers and students, especially. Due to the unexpected change in schedule, we are left hanging with unfinished syllabi. My BM teacher might be the only relaxed one for now. Not surprising for she made all of us finish the 'Bukit Kepong' novel at the beginning of the year. Perhaps her being evil isn't such a bad thing after all eh? The other subjects didn't come off too bad; we are approaching the end of our Secondary 4 syllabi already. However, Biology is... a tragic story to tell. We have around 10 chapters to cover by the end of the year, and the class had just started chapter 7 yesterday. If
only she could save 20 precious minutes of babbling at the beginning of every lesson, the world would be a better place to live in, no? :P
Ever had a sarcasm turn bad enough to make you stink? Sarcasms can only get you as far as one can tolerate them. If you don't have a good shelf of vocabulary or sense of humour, forget the notion of ever making a cynical remark on anyone or anything. Sarcasms wouldn't mean the same if you were to use them in the midst of a misunderstanding than when a casual conversation. In the end, it depends on how the other party interpret it, really; it doesn't matter what you actually meant, but their interpretations matter most, generally. One could joke, "I hate you because you are too handsome. " but the subject might take it as an insult. To help the subject understand you better, slap on a goofy smile. As simple and easy as said.

Prevention is Better Than Cure
September 07, 2007
I've had my good share of experience with various people of different 'flavours'. Throughout the many associations, they all have one prime thing in common which lives off a policy of pissing somebody off and then spend time compromising in an effort to patch-up the relationship, as in friends. If they had been wiser, even by a little, they would have allocated time to
improve their relationship further instead of jacking a difference. Should they not? A tint of regret follows up in a less-desirable approach, prompting to engulf them mentally alongside self-rebukes of the consequences of their actions... unless they're plain ignorant who couldn't care less about losing a good friend or partner in their lives.
Another issue that I find disturbing in many people is door-slamming. Why
break the door when you can choose to close it softly, and actually
have a solid door for many years to come? Slamming of doors could be one of the various means of expressing anger, without having to engage in verbal 'wars' or actually telling somebody off. Everyone knows that something is on when one slams the door, hard. Save a day of door-slamming, save a bat.

GM - Genetic... Mutation?
Sometimes, I wonder what was the true story behind the production of offsprings. To put it simply, I'm curious to know and understand the real purpose of mankind's need to sustain a continual 'production line' of their own kind, so to speak. "For a better tomorrow"? Yeah, right. Take a good, hard look at out planet, Earth. Mankind destroys the planet more than any other known, existing life-forms in my opinion. They say mankind is somewhat special because we possess the ablity to think "rationally". Obviously, our rationality falls under I Win-You Lose department. We only take into considerations of the consequences the day after the execution of our actions. What happens next is 'beyond our control' for it is the 'call of nature' and because 'God says so'.
Have you ever wondered why our parents gave life to us, when they, themselves regard us as troubles in their lives and then start telling us tales of their hardship in raising us and yada-yada-yada? One of my teachers once said that children are gifts from God like, "Live life, Give life". Right... do thank God when they're asleep. (Mum just came out and proved my point :P Wonderful timing indeed. )
Deformities. If parents agree that children are in fact gifts from God, why are they so ignorant, as in to pass down diseases and deformities to their chilren? This chain of GM ( No, not genetic modification ) goes a long way down the lineage or inheritance before it eventually gets "dissipated". Do they enjoy seeing their children suffer the same life as they did in the past and not do anything about it? Yes, I know there's something which they call "Designer Babies". But, how many people in this world who can actually afford such a service or treatment? Inevitably, if misconducted/abused, it will divide the existing society into 2 classes, the upper genetic class and subsequently the lower genetic class; a caste.
There was once, at the beginning of my secondary year, a classmate of mine told me that people with bangs/fringes cannot succeed in studies. Wow... I didn't know they were connected, let alone associated in anyway to the brain which is contained in the skull. Well, I had fringes since the dawn of time. Fine, maybe not that serious but I had them since I was little. I didn't and still don't find them bothering my studies and academic performance. If my results were bad, do blame the head, not the fringes, please. Frankly, apart from fashion sense, I keep fringes for a whole different reason. For a start, I have ptosis, or muscle weakness of the eyelid, right to be precise. And because of that, I'm afraid to look at people. So, yah... I need fringes to cover up and also to diverge attention away from the "deformed" area.
Blarh... I'll post more tomorrow. It's almost half-past 2.
