School text-books are downright
USELESS. Parents spend like what? About 10 bucks for a single copy of them? What's the whole point of getting text-books when they're neither complete nor elaborate in details and information? Seriously, if they were complete in the first place, reference books wouldn't be selling like hot cakes in the market. This is an unfair advantage to the rich and disadvantage to their counterparts. The school, as we all know, makes it as though it's manditory for school students to get their own set of text-books. Even if the school doesn't exactly 'punish' those who did not, the
lovely teachers would play heroes by humiliating them in class with sneering remarks.
Back to the topic. Now, take my Chemistry text-book for example. Under the 'Titbits' section, it says : For atoms with more than 20 electrons, the third shell can accommodate up to 18 electrons.
Fine. So, what happens to atoms with more than 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, etc. etc.? That's the catch - It's not stated in the book. The only things that are there are examples of arrangements along with their respective elements. Being curious, me and my friends took upon the initiative to ask our teacher... We
had to ask for our exams' sake. Ironically, it turns out that even she doesn't know about the concept. Does the government expect students to learn 110% of what their teachers know? Say, we only learn 50% of our teachers' knowledge, but before us, our teachers were students of other teachers and the teachers of our teachers are students of other teachers as well and that chain came a long way, WAY before us. Gosh, that's alot of teachers in there xD Our knowledge today is probably insignificant to those in the past.
Well, that about wrapped it up. I'm positive that I'm gonna flunk my Physics paper tomorrow, with that teacher of mine. Oh well, I think she really should just teach in Malay since her English is un.fa.thom.able - - Anyhow, kudos to the teachers that embraced teaching as their passions.
In need of a reference book,
